After a year long battle with cancer, our beloved Fr. John Gallen died this morning at 5:40 AM (US time, 11:40 AM Ireland time). Fr. Gallen served our nation as a priest for over 45 years, shepherding Christ the Redeemer as pastor for 15 years. We will always love him, we will always remember him. And, in great love, we surrender him to the Lord.
We will gather as a parish family at 7:00 PM this evening for a Rosary. Please make every effort to attend. If you are unable to join us in person, please join us wherever you are.
Fr. Gallen will be buried on Thursday, December 19 at 12 noon in Ireland. As Ireland is six hours ahead of CST in the US, we at Christ the Redeemer will celebrate a special Mass at 6:00 AM on Thursday, December 19, the exact hour he is being buried in Ireland.
In addition, a formal Memorial Mass has been scheduled for Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Christ the Redeemer. Further details in regards to his Memorial Mass will be forthcoming.
