Pilate repeatedly tries to release Jesus but the Jewish leaders object. Pilate physically tortures and beat Jesus beyond recognition seeking to satisfy the Jewish leaders. However, the Jews demand that Jesus be crucified. Pilate resists and eventually gives the order to execute Jesus.
